The 17th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo-2024 concluded in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, under the leadership of Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar. The event, held at Mahatma Mandir, was attended by Gujarat’s Finance and Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai and Odisha’s Urban Minister KC Mahapatra.

Union Minister Khattar emphasized the importance of urban mobility in enhancing citizens’ quality of life and reducing pollution. He highlighted initiatives like the Smart City Mission and PM-eBus Service, which have improved urban transport. India’s metro network spans 989 kilometers across 23 cities, with plans for expansion.

Future Plans

The 18th UMI Conference is scheduled for October 2025 in Gurgaon, Haryana. Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu praised the conference’s success and noted its role in transforming urban regions since 2008. He expressed optimism about India’s economic growth and infrastructure development under PM Modi’s leadership.

The conference featured 76 exhibitors and sessions on urban transport advancements. It was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Institute of Urban Transport, with support from the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
