Kashmiri Civil Society Honors Maqbool Sherwani’s Heroic Sacrifice
In a historic event, Kashmiri civil society paid tribute to Maqbool Sherwani, a hero who thwarted Pakistani raiders in 1947. Sherwani misled the raiders, delaying their attack on Srinagar, which allowed the Indian Army to arrive and defend the city. This tribute, led by Human Rights Activist Javed Ahmad Beigh, marked the first civilian-organized homage to Sherwani, previously only conducted by the Indian Army.

The event, held at Maqbool Sherwani Community Hall in Baramulla, was organized to send a message against Pakistani terrorism and counter their ‘Black Day’ propaganda. Javed Ahmad Beigh highlighted Sherwani’s bravery and the atrocities committed by the raiders.
