Sher Afzal Marwat Criticizes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government for Neglecting Imran Khan

In Peshawar, Pakistan, Sher Afzal Marwat, a member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), voiced his concerns about the treatment of the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan. Imran Khan has been in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi for over a year. Marwat expressed his disappointment with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for neglecting Imran Khan, highlighting internal conflicts and personal ambitions within the party.

Speaking at a rally for PTI supporters, Marwat criticized some Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ministers for prioritizing personal benefits over the party’s goals. He mentioned receiving threats of expulsion from the party but remained undeterred. Marwat plans to meet with Imran Khan to discuss the situation and inform him about alleged misconduct by certain officials, suggesting they should face prosecution instead of being rewarded with government positions.

Marwat also criticized the promotion of a police officer who allegedly fired at him in Bajaur, now promoted to senior superintendent of police in Peshawar. He emphasized the need for a strong strategy to secure Imran Khan’s release.

Marwat’s comments come amid reports of internal conflicts within PTI, including disagreements during the D-Chowk protests and the voting for the 26th Constitutional Amendment. Zain Qureshi recently resigned as PTI’s deputy parliamentary leader after receiving a show-cause notice for severing ties with the PTI leadership during the amendment’s passage. Marwat himself faced threats of losing his party membership for disagreements but later apologized.
