Uttar Pradesh Congress Removes Suresh Chandra Yadav for Defying Party Decision in Phulpur By-Election

Uttar Pradesh Congress Takes Action Against Suresh Chandra Yadav

The Uttar Pradesh Congress has removed Suresh Chandra Yadav from his position as the Prayagraj (Gangapar) unit chief. This decision came after Yadav filed a nomination against the INDIA bloc candidate in the Phulpur assembly by-elections, defying the party leadership’s decision.

Official Statement

Ajay Rai, the state Congress Committee president, issued a letter on October 25, stating that Yadav was relieved from his post immediately due to his actions against the party’s decision. The INDIA bloc has chosen Mujtaba Siddiqui as their candidate for the Phulpur bypoll.

Political Reactions

Former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would face a “historic” defeat in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh by-polls. He emphasized the opposition’s strategy to strengthen the INDIA bloc and predicted a significant victory for the Samajwadi Party in future elections.

Upcoming By-Elections

The election commission has scheduled by-polls for nine of the ten vacant assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on November 13, excluding Milkipur in Ayodhya district. The seats include Meerapur, Kundarki, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari. The vote counting is set for November 23.
