On October 25, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the 17th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo 2024 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. During the event, CM Patel highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in enhancing urban living through sustainable development. The conference, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, gathers officials and experts to discuss urban mobility advancements.

CM Patel emphasized the progress in urban development under PM Modi’s leadership, noting the increase in the urban development budget from Rs 750 crore in 2001-02 to over Rs 21,700 crore today. He credited PM Modi for initiatives like the Shaheri Vikas Varsh and the Sabarmati Riverfront. The introduction of BRTS in Ahmedabad has improved public transport, reducing reliance on personal vehicles.

Transport Minister Harsh Sanghvi stated that the conference will help states share best practices in public transportation. Under CM Patel, Gujarat has introduced 1,068 CNG and 382 electric buses, with plans for more. The state is also using technology to enhance transport services. The conference theme is ‘Standardization and Optimization’ of urban transport solutions, with over 15,000 delegates participating.
