Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Honors Fallen Soldiers and Porters in Kashmir
In a solemn tribute, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha honored the soldiers and porters who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in the Butapathri area of Gulmarg, Baramulla district. The attack occurred on October 24, 2024, and claimed the lives of Rifleman Jeevan Singh, Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah, and Defence Porters Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdary and Zahoor Ahmad Mir. The Lieutenant Governor laid a wreath and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, emphasizing that India will never forget their sacrifice.
The attack involved a military vehicle targeted by terrorists, resulting in the deaths of two Indian Army soldiers and two civilian porters. Additionally, one soldier and one porter were injured and are receiving medical treatment. The Chinar Corps reported a brief firefight in the Butapathri area, leading to the casualties.
In a separate incident on October 24, a laborer named Pritam Singh from Uttar Pradesh was injured in a terrorist attack in the Batgund Tral area of Pulwama district. Earlier, on October 20, a doctor and six construction workers were killed in an attack on a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal district.
