Maharashtra Elections: Seat Sharing Agreement Reached

The Maharashtra Congress President, Nana Patole, announced that the Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA) alliance has finalized a seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The alliance, which includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), will each contest 85 seats.

Official Announcement Pending

Patole mentioned that an official announcement regarding the seat-sharing will be made soon. When asked about the possibility of being the Chief Minister candidate, Patole emphasized the primary goal of bringing their government to power, leaving the decision to the High Command.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader’s Confirmation

Sanjay Raut, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), confirmed the agreement and stressed the importance of unity among the MVA partners. He mentioned that a list of candidates is being rectified and that smaller parties within the alliance will also be considered for seats.

Candidate List Released

Shiv Sena (UBT) has released its first list of 65 candidates, including Aaditya Thackeray, who will contest from the Worli constituency. The nomination process for the 288 assembly seats has begun, with polling scheduled for November 20 and results to be announced on November 23.

Previous Election Results

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress won 44 seats.
