On Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the site of a tragic building collapse in the Huramavu Agara area of Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of eight people and injuries to six others.

The Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased. He also stated that the government would cover the medical expenses of those injured, with further compensation to be decided after visiting them in the hospital.

Siddaramaiah directed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) to halt all illegal constructions in the city. He emphasized that the collapse was due to sub-standard construction work, not rain, and mentioned that notices and suspensions have been issued to responsible parties.
