Attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries: Five Dead, 22 Injured

On October 24, a tragic attack occurred at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara, resulting in the deaths of at least five people and injuring 22 others. Turkiye’s Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, confirmed the incident and mentioned that two terrorists were neutralized. Three of the injured have been discharged from the hospital, while 19 remain under treatment.

During the attack, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Erdogan condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous terrorist attack.” The attack, which took place at 3:30 pm local time, involved a loud explosion and subsequent gunfire, as reported by local media. Security footage showed a man with a backpack and an assault rifle, and a woman carrying a weapon.

No group has claimed responsibility yet, but Turkiye’s Justice Minister has initiated a probe. Yerlikaya suggested a probable link to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), known for its long-standing insurgency against the government. The identification process is ongoing to determine the responsible terrorist organization.

World leaders, including Russian President Putin and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, have condemned the attack. Rutte expressed support for Turkiye, stating that NATO stands with its ally and condemns terrorism in all forms.
