Security Measures Tightened in Jammu and Kashmir

After Ganderbal Terror Attack

In response to a recent terror attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has instructed the police to enhance security around key infrastructure projects and construction camps. A review meeting was held in Srinagar at Raj Bhavan to discuss the security situation in the Kashmir Division.

LG Sinha emphasized the need for a robust security and intelligence grid, urging joint operations with the army and other security agencies to combat terrorism. He directed a security audit of infrastructure projects, the establishment of round-the-clock checkpoints at strategic points, and increased night patrolling.

Meeting Attendees

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary of the Home Department Chandraker Bharti, and other high-ranking police and administrative officers.

Compensation for Victims

Following the attack, which resulted in the deaths of a doctor, designer, and five construction workers, LG Sinha announced financial assistance for the victims’ families. Each family will receive Rs 6 lakh, with an additional Rs 15 lakh provided by APCO Infratech. Injured individuals will receive Rs 2 lakh.

Visit to Gaganir

LG Sinha visited Gaganir to meet with officers and workers of the Project Implementing Agency, reviewing security measures at the site. He called for strict action against those involved in terrorism, emphasizing the need to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem.
