Kanpur Policewoman Assaulted on Karwa Chauth

A 29-year-old woman head constable in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was assaulted while on her way to her in-laws’ house to celebrate Karwa Chauth. The accused, Kallu, also known as Dharmendra Paswan, lived in the same neighborhood as the victim. He offered her a lift and allegedly took her to a nearby field where the crime occurred. The woman bravely defended herself by biting the accused’s finger.

Police Action and Arrest

An FIR was filed under various sections, and the accused was arrested shortly after the incident, according to Additional Commissioner of Police, Manoj Pandey.

Government’s Response

The Chief Minister praised the Uttar Pradesh police for their effective crime control and prosecution efforts. Over the past seven and a half years, the Directorate has prosecuted over 80,000 criminals, with 54 receiving the death penalty. In cases involving women, 28,700 criminals were punished for serious offences, including sexual assault.
