YSRCP Leader Roja Criticizes Andhra Pradesh Government on Women’s Safety

In Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, former minister RK Roja has voiced strong criticism against the state government for its failure to protect women. She highlighted the increasing incidents of rape and murder, urging Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and Home Minister Anita to resign if they cannot ensure women’s safety.

Speaking in Nagiri, Roja pointed out recent tragic events, such as the brutal rape and murder of a young woman in Badvel and an attack in Tenali that left a woman brain-dead. Despite these incidents, CM Chandrababu attended a TV show recording in Hyderabad instead of meeting the victims’ families. Roja also criticized Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for his silence, questioning his previous promises to act against criminals.

Roja accused the TDP government of focusing on political vendettas, filing false cases against YSRCP leaders, and misusing police for personal gains. She demanded the immediate implementation of the Disha Act for women’s safety and the restoration of women’s police stations, warning that public discontent could lead to consequences for the government.

YSRCP leader TJR Sudhakar Babu, in a separate press conference in Tadepalli, echoed these concerns. He criticized the government’s failure to maintain law and order and the lack of serious steps to control violence against women. Babu emphasized that the Disha app could have prevented many incidents and accused the government of targeting Dalit leaders with false cases. He expressed disappointment over the lack of punishment in 74 cases of rape and murder in the past four months, arguing that this neglect emboldens criminals.
