Karnataka’s C P Yogeshwar Resigns, Eyes Channapatna By-Election

In Huballi, Karnataka, C P Yogeshwar, a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, has resigned and is considering running as an independent candidate in the upcoming Channapatna by-elections. His resignation was accepted by Basavaraja Horatti, the Chairman of the Legislative Council. Yogeshwar, a former tourism minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, expressed his interest in contesting the bypolls independently, though he has not ruled out joining another party.

Yogeshwar also reached out to Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, requesting a chance to contest the bypolls. The Channapatna by-election is scheduled for November 13, following the vacancy left by JD(S) state President D Kumaraswamy’s election to the Lok Sabha from the Mandya parliamentary segment.

Meanwhile, R Ashoka, Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, dismissed rumors of a conflict between the BJP and JD(S) over the Channapatna seat.
