Five Naxalites Killed in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli During Anti-Naxal Operation
In the Koparshi forest area of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli, five Naxalites were killed after they opened fire on security forces during an anti-Naxal operation. The Superintendent of Police, Neelotpal, confirmed the incident and stated that the process of identifying the deceased Naxalites is ongoing. The search operation continues in the forest area.
Recent Naxal Encounters in Chhattisgarh
Earlier, on October 18, a significant encounter took place in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad forest near the Dantewada-Narayanpur border, where 38 Naxalites were killed by security personnel. The Dantewada police reported that bodies of 31 cadres were recovered, and 29 were handed over to their families. All 38 Naxalites were identified.
Chhattisgarh’s Commitment Against Naxalism
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed satisfaction over the successful operation and reiterated the state’s commitment to combating Naxalism.
Maoist Surrender in Gadchiroli
On October 14, a Maoist couple, Varun Raja Muchaki and Roshani Vijya Wachami, surrendered to security forces in Gadchiroli. They carried a combined bounty of Rs 10 lakh. The police attributed this surrender to the effective Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy by the Maharashtra government.
