Nirmala Sitharaman Visits the United States
Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, arrived in the United States, receiving a warm welcome at Newark Liberty International Airport. She was greeted by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan.
Strengthening India-Mexico Relations
Before her US visit, Sitharaman was in Mexico from October 17 to 20. During her stay, she engaged with political and business leaders in Guadalajara and Mexico City. She invited Mexican investors to explore opportunities in India’s Global In-House Capability Centers, aircraft and ship leasing, and foreign university setups at GIFT-IFSC.
India-Mexico Trade and Investment Summit
Sitharaman participated in the India-Mexico Trade and Investment Summit, aiming to enhance bilateral trade and investment. She encouraged private sector leaders to strengthen partnerships in pharmaceuticals, MedTech, and digital innovation. The summit also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CII and CCE to boost business interactions and increase Mexico’s sourcing of pharmaceuticals and medical devices from India.
The summit, organized by the Trade and Commerce Council of India, CII, and the Indian Embassy in Mexico, attracted over 250 business leaders and investors, focusing on collaboration in IT, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and automotive industries.
