Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Seat Finalization Update

Vijay Wadettiwar’s Announcement

Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, who is also the Leader of the Opposition, announced that the final decision on all 288 seats for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Maharashtra assembly election will be made by tomorrow evening. He mentioned that issues on 6-7 seats in Vidarbha are being resolved and that the three-party alliance is working together to finalize the seat-sharing arrangement.

Unity Among MVA Partners

Ramesh Chennithala, Congress election in-charge for Maharashtra, assured that there are no differences among the MVA partners, which include the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress. He stated that discussions are ongoing and a resolution is expected soon.

Alliance’s Objective

UBT Sena MP Sanjay Raut emphasized the alliance’s goal to remove the corrupt government in Maharashtra, highlighting the national and state interest over individual sacrifices.

Election Preparations

The ruling Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, has also released its first list of 99 candidates. Both alliances are intensifying their preparations as Maharashtra heads to the polls on November 20, with results to be announced on November 23.

Previous Election Results

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
