Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy Discusses Political Strategies in Channapatna

In Mandya, Karnataka, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy addressed concerns about attempts to create a rift between JD(S) and BJP in Channapatna, aimed at benefiting the Congress candidate. He assured that these plans would not succeed. Kumaraswamy emphasized JD(S)’s efforts in constituencies like Channapatna, Shiggaon, and Sandur, stating that Congress’ tactics would ultimately fail.

During a media interaction after inspecting a paddy field in Sitapura village, Kumaraswamy responded to rumors about CP Yogeshwar’s potential nomination in Channapatna. He clarified that JD(S) has already fielded a family member as the BJP candidate for the Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituency, hoping for reciprocal support from allies.

Addressing speculation about Yogeshwar’s candidacy, Kumaraswamy mentioned that he had not been informed of any discussions or proposals. He noted that Congress leaders allegedly meeting Yogeshwar aimed to create division within the NDA alliance, as Congress cannot win independently in Channapatna.

Kumaraswamy assured that there are no issues at the Delhi level regarding the Channapatna ticket, as he has represented the constituency for two terms. He explained that JD(S) is handling the Channapatna matter nationally, expecting BJP to reciprocate their generosity after JD(S) gave up the Bengaluru Rural seat.

Former minister CS Puttaraju, MLA Manjunath, JD(S) district president Ramesh, and other party leaders were present with Kumaraswamy. Channapatna will hold by-polls on November 13, following Kumaraswamy’s election to the Lok Sabha from Mandya.
