UAE’s Massive Relief Effort for Lebanon
1,000 Tonnes of Aid Collected
In the second week of the “UAE stands with Lebanon” national relief campaign, a significant collection drive took place at the Exhibition Centre, Dubai Expo City. With the help of 2,000 volunteers, 250 tonnes of relief materials, including food, medicine, and shelter equipment, were gathered. The total collection has now reached about 1,000 tonnes.
This campaign was initiated under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with oversight from Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and supervision by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event was organized by Dubai Cares and the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) in collaboration with various charitable entities.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs, highlighted the UAE’s global humanitarian role, continuing the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Abdullah Ahmed Al Shehhi, CEO of Dubai Cares, emphasized the urgent need for support due to the worsening crisis in Lebanon.
Around 24 Emirati donor institutions participated, including the ERC, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and many others, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to aiding communities in need.
