Delhi CM Atishi Blames BJP for Rising Pollution in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of contributing to the increasing pollution in Delhi. She highlighted that stubble burning incidents, a major pollution source, have decreased in Punjab but increased in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Atishi criticized the diesel buses from UP and Haryana for worsening air quality in Anand Vihar, Delhi.

Pollution Sources and Criticism

Atishi pointed out that the BJP’s “cheap politics” is responsible for the pollution in Delhi’s air and water. She mentioned that the AAP government in Punjab has reduced stubble burning by half, while it has risen by 70% in UP and 23% in Haryana. Diesel buses from these states contribute significantly to pollution in Anand Vihar.

Industrial Waste and Yamuna River

Atishi accused BJP leaders of ignoring the industrial waste dumped into the Yamuna River by factories in Haryana and UP, which causes toxic foam. She criticized BJP leaders for focusing on photo opportunities rather than addressing the real issues.

Anti-Pollution Measures in Delhi

Atishi and Environment Minister Gopal Rai inspected Anand Vihar, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) is severely high. Delhi has deployed 99 teams for dust control and is using over 325 smog guns to combat pollution. The Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are actively working to reduce pollution.

Despite these efforts, areas like Dwarka still face very poor air quality, with AQI levels reaching 311.
