Delhi’s Air Pollution Worsens: Political Blame Game Between BJP and AAP

New Delhi is experiencing a significant rise in air pollution, with a thick fog covering parts of the city. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in various areas has reached alarming levels. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 454, categorized as ‘Severe’, while Dwarka sector-8 and Jahangirpuri are under ‘Very Poor’ with AQIs of 311 and 350, respectively. ITO and Nehru Park are marked ‘Poor’ with AQIs of 232 and 254.

A Delhi resident advised wearing masks due to the increased pollution. The Central Pollution Control Board warns that ‘Severe’ AQI can affect healthy individuals and worsen conditions for those with existing health issues. ‘Poor’ AQI can cause breathing discomfort, and ‘Very Poor’ can lead to respiratory illnesses.

The Yamuna River in Kalindi Kunj is covered with toxic foam, highlighting the pollution crisis. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of neglecting the Yamuna’s cleanliness and misusing funds. He challenged Kejriwal to take a dip in the river, claiming the water is poisonous.

In response, AAP’s Gopal Rai blamed the BJP for not addressing air pollution, urging collective efforts to tackle the issue. He accused BJP governments in neighboring states and the central government of inaction, emphasizing the need for cooperation to solve the pollution problem.
