In a heartbreaking incident in Kalidas Para, West Tripura, two young girls, Pinki Das (9) and Urmila Marak (10), tragically drowned while swimming in a pond. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Srinagar police station. According to Officer-In-Charge Dilip Debbarma, the girls were part of a group swimming in the pond when they submerged. Although one girl managed to surface safely, Pinki and Urmila could not. Local residents quickly responded and retrieved the girls from the water, but despite efforts to revive them, they were declared dead at Anandanagar Primary Health Center. The community is in mourning, and authorities are urging parents to supervise children during such activities to prevent future tragedies.
