Maharashtra’s Mahayuti Alliance Nears Seat-Sharing Agreement
In Mumbai, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the seat-sharing talks within the Mahayuti alliance are almost complete. This alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction). Fadnavis mentioned that the BJP’s first list of candidates could be released soon.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also confirmed that the seat-sharing discussions are in the final phase. A meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah was held to finalize the details. The meeting, which included key figures like Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, lasted until 2 am.
The alliance had previously agreed on 240 seats, but discussions continued for the remaining 48 seats. The BJP is expected to contest 150-160 seats, Shiv Sena 75-85 seats, and the NCP 48-55 seats. The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with vote counting on November 23.
