President Droupadi Murmu Concludes Historic Visit to Malawi
President Droupadi Murmu has returned to India after completing a significant visit to three African nations, including Malawi. Her journey aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation between India and these countries.
Meeting with Malawi’s President
During her stay in Malawi, President Murmu met with President Lazarus Chakwera. They discussed various topics to deepen the India-Malawi relationship and signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering Arts and Culture, Youth Matters, Sports, and Pharmaceutical Cooperation.
Support for Malawi
President Murmu announced India’s support in establishing a permanent Artificial Limb Fitment Centre in Malawi. She praised the Indian community in Malawi for serving as a bridge between the two nations.
Celebrating Diplomatic Relations
Highlighting the 60-year diplomatic relationship between India and Malawi, President Murmu emphasized the historical and cultural ties between the two countries. She reiterated India’s commitment to a partnership with Africa based on mutual trust and benefit.
Historic Visit
This visit marked the first-ever by an Indian President to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi. President Murmu was accompanied by Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar and MPs Mukeshkumar Dalal and Atul Garg.
