24th National Para Swimming Championship Begins in Goa
The 24th edition of the National Para Swimming Championship has commenced on October 19 and will run until October 22 at the Olympic Swimming Pool in Panaji, Goa. This event is organized by the Office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and the Goa Paralympic Association.
Over 700 participants, including para swimmers, coaches, officials, and support staff from more than 27 states and union territories across India, are expected to participate. The championship provides a platform for athletes to showcase their talent and resilience, celebrating sportsmanship and the abilities of persons with disabilities.
The event aims to pave the way for future international participation, including major events like the World Para Swimming Championships. Guruprasad R Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, expressed honor in hosting the event and emphasized the commitment to empowering athletes with disabilities.
