Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu attended the International Kullu Dussehra Festival, marking the first time participants from various countries joined the event. The festival aims to promote brotherhood and cultural exchange. Sukhu highlighted the involvement of women, youth, and children in the traditional Laaldi dance.

Inauguration of New Educational Facilities

Earlier, CM Sukhu inaugurated the Block-C building of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya in Shimla, constructed at a cost of Rs 9 crore. He emphasized the importance of equipping schools with qualified teachers and necessary facilities. During the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony, he announced several initiatives, including smart classrooms, a new hostel, and a digital library.

Educational Reforms and Women’s Empowerment

CM Sukhu expressed concern over Himachal Pradesh’s education ranking and announced measures to improve it, such as prohibiting teacher transfers during the academic session and establishing Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools. The government is also committed to women’s welfare, raising the marriageable age for girls to 21 and amending land laws to benefit adult daughters. Additionally, a 30% reservation for women in police recruitment has been introduced.
