PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan Discusses Constitutional Amendments
On October 19, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced that his party will adhere to the directives of PTI founder Imran Khan regarding constitutional amendments. This announcement came after a meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Barrister Khan revealed that the special parliamentary committee had approved the draft of the constitutional amendments, despite opposition from PTI. He mentioned that they were informed of the approval during their meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Khan emphasized that PTI would follow Imran Khan’s guidance on the matter.
Syed Khursheed Shah, the chairman of the special parliamentary committee, claimed that the draft was approved unanimously. However, PTI leader Amir Dogar, a committee member, disagreed, stating that he opposed the draft.
The committee, led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed Shah, included members from various political parties. The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, and other leaders from PTI, JUI-F, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and PPP.
Following the meeting, Syed Khursheed Shah announced that the draft would be presented in the federal cabinet meeting for approval.
