Mayawati Criticizes Haryana’s New Reservation Policy for Scheduled Castes
In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has voiced strong opposition to the Haryana BJP government’s decision to implement sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SC) for reservation. She described this move as a “conspiracy to divide Dalits once again.”
Mayawati expressed her concerns on social media, stating that the new system of quota within the reservation quota is not only anti-Dalit but also anti-reservation. She criticized the central BJP leadership for not intervening, suggesting that they, like the Congress, are conspiring to weaken and eventually abolish reservations.
Mayawati emphasized the BSP’s dedication to fighting against the “divide and rule” tactics of casteist parties. She stated that the BSP is committed to organizing and uniting SC, ST, and OBC communities to empower them politically.
This statement follows Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s announcement that the state will implement the Supreme Court’s decision allowing sub-classifications within Scheduled Castes for reservation purposes.
