Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s Visit to Japan
During a four-day official visit to Japan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Fuji School, a premier military training institution. He met with Lieutenant General Yasuyuki Kodama and learned about the school’s curriculum, which includes courses on Information Warfare and Armoured Warfare. General Dwivedi also observed the school’s equipment and facilities.
On October 16, General Dwivedi paid tribute at the Ichigaya Memorial, honoring the martyrs of the Japan Self-Defence Force. He reviewed the Guard of Honour and engaged in discussions with General Yasunori Morishita and General Yoshihide Yoshida, focusing on bilateral defence cooperation and global peace.
General Dwivedi also visited the National Institute of Defence Studies and Ichigaya Museum, meeting with the Director General of Ground Systems. On October 15, he met with Japan’s Defence Minister, General Nakatani, to discuss mutual interests and deepen bilateral defence cooperation.
India and Japan have a strong history of defence cooperation, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries are part of the QUAD alliance, working together on maritime security and participating in the Malabar Naval Exercise with the US and Australia.
