In a related development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan dismissed a plea challenging the proposed 26th Constitutional Amendment. The plea was withdrawn by the petitioner’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, leading to its dismissal by a bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The petition was initially filed by Abid S Zubairi, a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and a current member of the Pakistan Bar Council.
