Previously, Karachi had enforced Section 144 from October 13 to 16 during the Shanghai Organisation Cooperation Summit to maintain order. In Punjab, the restriction was applied in five districts—Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzzafargarh, Rajanpur, and Kot Addu—until October 15, to prevent large gatherings from becoming targets for miscreants. The government’s primary focus is on ensuring public safety during times of heightened risk.
