Ajay Singh Yadav Resigns from Congress
On October 17, Congress leader Ajay Singh Yadav announced his resignation from the party. He sent his resignation letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Yadav, who was the chairman of the AICC OBC Department, also resigned from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress.
In a post on X, Yadav expressed that the decision was difficult due to his family’s 70-year association with the party. His father, Rao Abhey Singh, became an MLA in 1952, and Yadav continued the family tradition by winning five consecutive Assembly elections from Haryana’s Rewari in 1991, 1996, 2000, 2005, and 2009.
Yadav mentioned feeling disillusioned with the party’s high command after Sonia Gandhi stepped down from her position. The BJP currently holds the government in Haryana, having won 48 out of 90 seats, while Congress secured 37 seats.
