Congress Leader Pawan Khera Supports Government

In the midst of rising tensions between India and Canada, Congress leader Pawan Khera has expressed support for the Indian government. He emphasized that the opposition will unite with the government, stating that no country has ever made such serious accusations against India. Khera urged the government to keep the opposition informed about developments.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently stated that Canada had not provided India with concrete evidence, only intelligence, regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Trudeau mentioned that India requested evidence, but Canada only had intelligence, not hard proof.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded, asserting that Trudeau’s comments confirm India’s stance that Canada has not provided evidence for its allegations. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal criticized Trudeau’s actions for harming India-Canada relations.

The diplomatic row began when Trudeau accused India of involvement in Nijjar’s death, which India denied, calling the allegations “absurd” and “motivated.” Nijjar, labeled a terrorist by India’s National Investigation Agency, was killed in June last year. The situation escalated when Canada identified Indian diplomats as “persons of interest” in the investigation, leading India to expel Canadian diplomats and withdraw its High Commissioner to Canada.
