Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reached a remarkable milestone at its Manesar facility, producing over 1 crore vehicles. The milestone vehicle was the popular compact SUV, Brezza, highlighting the company’s growing influence in the SUV market.
Fastest Global Achievement
The Manesar plant, operational since October 2006, achieved this feat in just 18 years, making it the fastest among Suzuki’s global facilities to reach this production milestone. The plant spans 600 acres and produces models like Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Wagon R, S-Presso, and Celerio.
Global Reach and Employment
These vehicles are sold domestically and exported to regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and neighboring Asian countries. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, emphasized the company’s focus on local manufacturing and its vast supply chain in India, contributing to employment and industry self-reliance.
International Standards and Expansion
The Manesar facility has been crucial in Maruti Suzuki’s global expansion, producing the Baleno, the first passenger car exported to Japan. This achievement underscores the plant’s ability to meet international quality standards and supports Maruti Suzuki’s annual production capacity of approximately 2.35 million units.
Since its inception, Maruti Suzuki has produced over 3.11 crore vehicles, solidifying its leadership in the Indian automotive industry.
