Islamabad, Pakistan – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited lawmakers from all coalition parties to a lunch meeting today. This gathering is set to take place at Parliament House at 2:00 pm, ahead of the National Assembly session where the 26th constitutional amendment is expected to be presented.

The invitation has been extended to all coalition party lawmakers in the center. Meanwhile, the special committee meeting on constitutional amendments has been rescheduled to 11:30 am on Thursday, instead of the initially planned 12:30 pm.

Agreement on Constitutional Amendments

Earlier, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) reached an agreement on constitutional amendments during a meeting in Karachi. JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the agreement at a joint press conference.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the consensus and mentioned plans to meet Nawaz Sharif. He rejected the government’s initial proposed amendments, calling for non-controversial changes to ensure unity in Pakistan’s constitution and parliament.
