In New Delhi, the Patiala House Court has remanded Deepak Boxer to two days of special cell custody. He was arrested in connection with a firing incident at a sweet shop in Nangloi, allegedly to extort money. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Abhishek Kumar ordered his police custody after his fresh arrest from Tihar Jail. Deepak Boxer is to be produced in court on October 18.

Other accused, Jatin, Akash, Hariom, and Ankesh Lakra, were also produced from judicial custody, with their custody extended for 13 days. They are to appear in court on October 29. Advocate Tarun Chandela represented Deepak Boxer.

The Delhi police sought custody to investigate the offence and the supply of illegal weapons in Delhi NCR. On September 29, the special cell apprehended two sharpshooters from the Deepak Boxer-Gogi gang linked to the firing incident. The accused, Hari Om alias Lalla and Jatin, were involved in gunfire incidents at the Nangloi sweet shop to extort money in the name of jailed gangsters Deepak Boxer and Ankesh Lakra of the Gogi Gang.

The police recovered a semi-automatic pistol, a country-made pistol, and a motorcycle used in the crime. On September 28, DCP Pratiksha Godara reported that two assailants fired gunshots at the sweet shop, threatening extortion on the orders of jailed gangsters. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act.

The assailants left extortion slips with photos of deceased gangsters Jitender Gogi and Kuldeep Fajja, and names of jailed gangsters Deepak Boxer and Ankesh Lakra. Despite raids, the suspects were initially elusive. However, based on specific information, they were apprehended in Rohini, Delhi, with illegal weapons and a motorcycle.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Jatin is associated with gangster Ankesh Lakra and is an aide of Deepak Boxer. He received instructions to fire at the sweet shop after acquiring illegal weapons. The weapons were allegedly provided by Ankesh Lakra’s associates. Both Ankesh Lakra and Deepak Boxer are currently leading the Gogi Gang and were involved in a 2021 escape of gangster Kuldeep Fazza from police custody. Jatin persuaded Hari Om to join the shooting for easy money, leading to the attack on Roshan Sweet Corner in Nangloi.
