S Jaishankar Meets Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif at SCO Summit in Islamabad
On October 16, in Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. Jaishankar is attending the 23rd Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government. The meeting was marked by a handshake and photo session between Jaishankar and Sharif, as shown on Pakistan Television.
Jaishankar arrived in Pakistan for a two-day visit, during which he attended a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Sharif. Upon his arrival at Rawalpindi airport, he was warmly received by Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, Director General (South Asia) of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Children in traditional attire greeted him with flower bouquets.
The two-day SCO meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sharif, focuses on trade and economic issues. Pakistan assumed the rotating chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government for 2023-24 at the previous meeting in Bishkek. Jaishankar is leading the Indian delegation at this important summit.
