A major fire erupted in Mulwarwan village, Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, causing significant damage to 68 houses. The fire broke out on a Tuesday afternoon, leaving many residents without shelter. Locals expressed their distress, with one family member stating, “Everything has been burnt…The government should give something and help.”

Another resident described the situation, “After 2 o’clock yesterday, this incident happened here. Now, they were spending the night under the roof. Some are still in the fields. Today, the district administration has brought some tents here.”

Temporary shelters and relief materials, including food, clothing, and medical supplies, have been provided by the administration. Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, confirmed that disaster management teams were dispatched immediately. Initially, 40 houses were reported damaged, but the number later increased to 68.

The government is working on relief and rehabilitation efforts, offering financial assistance and ensuring enhanced security for the affected families.
