Harish Rawat and Congress Aim for Victory in Maharashtra and Jharkhand Elections

Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India – Congress leader Harish Rawat has expressed confidence in the party’s strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. He emphasized that the party has learned from past experiences in Haryana and will be more cautious this time. Rawat stated, “Our alliance will win the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. We have learned a lesson from Haryana and will be more careful. Wherever we are united in fighting elections, we are winning… We will also win in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and other by-elections.”

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal also shared his optimism, stating that the party is prepared to secure victories in both states. He mentioned, “We are confident of winning both the assembly elections and the by-elections being held across the country… The Jharkhand Assembly’s term runs until the last week of December, yet they announced it first. The Maharashtra Assembly’s term ends on November 26, but they announced the Maharashtra elections last. I believe there is a lack of transparency, but we are ready to fight and win.”

Jharkhand will vote in two phases on November 13 and 20, while Maharashtra will have a single-phase election on November 20. The votes will be counted on November 23. The Chief Election Commissioner has outlined the timeline for Maharashtra’s elections, with the Gazette notification on October 22, the last date for filing nominations on October 29, scrutiny on October 30, and the final date for withdrawing candidacies on November 4.

Key contenders in the Maharashtra elections include the ruling Mahayuti Alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, which includes the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.
