Rajnath Singh Lays Foundation for Indian Navy’s New VLF Station in Telangana
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the need to strengthen the Indian Navy due to growing global interest in the Indian Ocean Region. He laid the foundation for a Very Low Frequency (VLF) station at Damagundam Reserve Forest, Vikarabad, Telangana. The project, costing Rs3,200 crore, spans 2,900 acres and aims to enhance naval communication and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
Singh emphasized India’s role as a security provider in the region and the importance of state-of-the-art naval platforms. He stressed that maritime security is a collective responsibility and urged cooperation among neighboring countries. The VLF station will improve the Navy’s operational readiness and communication capabilities.
Addressing environmental concerns, Singh assured adherence to environmental conditions and provisions for rehabilitation if needed. He also paid tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary, acknowledging his contributions to India’s defense sector.
The event was attended by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, and other dignitaries.
