The Indian Army is set to honor the brave soldiers of the Battle of Walong from the 1962 Sino-Indian War with a series of events marking the 62nd Walong Day. The commemorations will run from October 17 to November 14, 2024, celebrating the courage and sacrifice of those who defended India’s eastern front.

Exciting Activities Planned

This year’s events include white water rafting, motorcycle and bicycle rallies, battlefield and adventure treks, and a half marathon, showcasing the adventurous spirit of the Indian Army in Arunachal Pradesh. Medical and veterinary camps will also be held to support remote villages, strengthening ties between the Army and local communities.

Walong Day Celebrations

On November 14, the newly renovated Walong War Memorial will be inaugurated, featuring a wreath-laying ceremony, battle narration, and traditional dances by Mishmi and Meyor performers. The Shaurya Sthal at Lama Spur and key infrastructure projects will also be inaugurated, emphasizing efforts to improve connectivity and security.
