Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Nana Patole Confident in MVA’s Preparedness
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are set to take place in a single phase on November 20, with votes being counted on November 23. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole expressed confidence that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition is ready and will secure a significant share of votes to form the government. Patole shared these views with reporters in Nashik, ahead of the official poll schedule announcement by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey emphasized the need for fair elections in a self-made video, urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure transparency. The election process will begin with the issuance of the Gazette notification on October 22, followed by the last date for filing nominations on October 29. The scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for October 30, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until November 4.
The main contenders in the 288 constituencies are the ruling Mahayuti Alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and the opposition MVA coalition, comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress. In the recent parliamentary elections, the MVA performed well, securing 30 out of 48 seats, while the BJP’s share dropped to 9 seats from 23 seats five years ago. In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, and the Congress secured 44 seats.
