Delhi Metro Phase-IV Progress: Key Land Approvals

Land Acquisition for Aerocity-Tughlakabad Corridor

In a significant development, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the acquisition of 1,688 square meters of land in Khanpur Village, South Delhi. This decision resolves a major hurdle in the completion of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad Corridor of Metro Phase-IV, pending since 2020.

Land Transfer for Interchange Station

Additionally, the LG has sanctioned the transfer of 1,600 square meters of land from the Education Department to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for one year. This land, rented at Rs13,37,135, will facilitate the construction of an interchange station on the RK Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok Corridors.

Construction of Nabi Karim Metro Station

The transferred land will be used to build the underground Nabi Karim Metro Station at Idgah Road. Once construction is complete, the land will be returned to the Education Department. The acquisition at Khanpur, requested by DMRC in July 2020, is expected to enable the completion of the critical section of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad Corridor within a year.

Benefits for Commuters

This development will ease commuting for residents in South-East Delhi, providing better access to the airport and reducing traffic on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. The Nabi Karim interchange station will enhance connectivity for commuters on the busy RK Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok Corridors.
