Noida International Airport Completes Key Safety Calibration
Noida International Airport (NIA) has successfully finished the calibration of its Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI). This important process was conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with support from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure the airport’s operational readiness and safety standards.
Calibration Process Details
The calibration process began on October 10 and concluded on October 14, using a Beech King Air 360ER aircraft from AAI. The ILS is a radio navigation system that helps pilots during approach and landing, especially in low visibility. The PAPI provides visual cues to pilots for the correct descent angle during landing.
Significance of the Calibration
This successful calibration marks a significant milestone for NIA as it prepares for its operational launch. The airport is strategically located near major cities and is expected to be operational later this year, ahead of the Indira Gandhi International Airport reaching its capacity.
