In Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, tensions escalated following a violent clash during a Durga idol immersion in the Mahasi area. The incident occurred on October 13 when a procession passed through a Muslim area, leading to an argument between two groups. Tragically, one person from the Hindu community was killed, and several others were injured.

Bahraich Superintendent of Police, Vrinda Shukla, reported that 30 individuals have been detained, and efforts are underway to apprehend the main suspect. In response to the unrest, security has been heightened, and police are conducting route marches to maintain order.

Protesters have vandalized shops and set fire to a hospital and pharmacy in the area. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that those responsible for the violence will face strict action. He emphasized the importance of safety for all and instructed officials to ensure the timely immersion of idols while maintaining communication with religious organizations.
