The conflict erupted in the Kurram district after a shooting incident left two individuals critically injured. Senior official Javedullah Khan reported that efforts are underway to restore peace and secure travel routes. Injured individuals have been taken to the hospital.

Efforts for Peace

Pir Haider Ali Shah, a former parliamentarian, mentioned that tribal elders have arrived in Kurram to mediate a peace agreement. Tribal meetings, known as ‘Jirgas,’ are common in the region to maintain peace. Last month, similar clashes between Shia and Sunni Muslims over a land dispute resulted in 25 deaths, highlighting ongoing tensions in the area.

Balochistan Attacks by BLA

In Balochistan, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for a deadly attack at a coal mine, killing over 20 people, including Pakistani and Afghan nationals. The attack involved heavy weapons and was part of ongoing protests against the central government’s exploitation of the province’s resources. The BLA reported higher casualties and threatened further attacks unless military forces withdraw from the region.

International Impact

Recently, the BLA also targeted Chinese nationals near Pakistan’s largest airport, resulting in casualties and significant damage. The group is designated as a terrorist organization by Pakistan, the UK, and the US.
