Prime Minister Modi Launches Internship Scheme for Youth in Top Indian Companies

Prime Minister Internship Scheme Launched

The Prime Minister Internship scheme, an initiative by the Modi government, has opened for registration. This program aims to skill the youth and improve their employability by offering internships in the top 500 companies in India for 12 months. The registration portal went live at 5 PM on Saturday.

Details of the Scheme

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs announced that the scheme provides a monthly allowance of Rs 5000 and a one-time grant of Rs 6000. Candidates aged 21-24 can register on the portal using Aadhaar-based registration and tools like bio-data generation.

Internship Opportunities

Over 80,000 opportunities have been added across 24 sectors, including Oil, Gas & Energy, Travel & Hospitality, Automotives, and Banking. The top five states offering internships are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh.

Participating Companies

193 companies, including Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki, and Reliance Industries, have posted opportunities. Internships are available in fields like Operations Management, Production, and Sales across 737 districts in 36 States and Union Territories.

Future Goals

The scheme aims to provide one crore internship opportunities over the next five years, with 1.25 lakh opportunities expected in FY 2024-25.
