On a recent Friday evening, an Air India Express flight from Tiruchirapalli to Sharjah safely landed back at Tiruchirapalli airport. The flight, carrying 140 passengers, experienced a technical issue with its landing gear shortly after departure at 5:30 pm. The aircraft circled the city for over two hours to reduce fuel before landing safely at 8:15 pm.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has grounded the aircraft and initiated an investigation into the technical snag. An Air India Express spokesperson clarified that no emergency was declared, and the circling was a precautionary measure to ensure a safe landing. An alternative aircraft has been arranged for the passengers to continue their journey.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed the safe landing, with the DGCA closely monitoring the situation. Airport Director Gopalakrishnan reported that over 20 ambulances and fire tenders were on standby during the landing.
