Shehzad Poonawalla Criticizes Congress Committee on Haryana Poll Loss

In New Delhi, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla commented on Congress forming a committee to investigate their loss in the Haryana Assembly Polls. Poonawalla claimed the committee’s purpose is to protect Rahul Gandhi and shift blame for the defeat. He noted that since Rahul Gandhi started the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress has lost 11 elections, winning only a few with external support.

Poonawalla highlighted that Rahul Gandhi has lost 73 to 74 elections, including three Lok Sabha elections. Despite this, Gandhi is part of the fact-finding committee, and KC Venugopal’s role in ticket distribution is under scrutiny. Poonawalla accused Congress of blaming Kumari Selja for the loss, even though she wasn’t present at a recent meeting. He also mentioned allegations of Congress insulting Dalits, contributing to their defeat in Haryana.

Poonawalla further accused Rahul Gandhi of using a divide and rule strategy, causing public anger. He questioned whether any committee would hold Gandhi accountable. He criticized Congress for blaming electronic voting machines (EVMs) only in Haryana, suggesting the party’s arrogance and disconnect with the public led to their loss.

On October 9, a Congress delegation met with the Election Commission regarding the Haryana poll results, which they found unexpected and counter to ground realities. Congress won 37 seats, while BJP secured 48 in the 90-member assembly, positioning BJP for a third consecutive government in Haryana.
