As Odisha gears up for the grand Durga Puja celebrations, Sanjay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police for Law and Order, has announced special security measures to ensure safety across the state. Massive gatherings are anticipated in cities like Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Chandapada, and Balasore.

“I can assure you that this year’s Durga Puja celebrations in Odisha will be grand and secure, as we have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities, particularly in communally and group-sensitive areas,” said Kumar.

To support district SSPs and the Commissioner of Police, approximately 205 platoons of security forces have been deployed. Additionally, 8 companies of CRPF and BSF, along with 2 companies of Rapid Action Force, are stationed in Bhadrak district. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are covering all major districts.

Key personnel, including one SP rank officer, 11 Additional SPs, 42 DSPs and Assistant Commandants, 50 Inspectors, and 320 Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors, have been strategically deployed to oversee security operations.

For smooth traffic flow, separate arrangements have been made. Traffic guidelines have been published in local media and newspapers. Major roads will be cleared, and ample parking facilities have been developed, especially in Cuttack.

Kumar emphasized, “We’ve taken every precaution to ensure the public doesn’t face any problems.”
