Asian Equestrian Federation Cup Returns to India After 14 Years
The Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) has announced the return of the Asian Equestrian Federation Cup-Youth (AEF Cup-CSIY-B) to India after a 14-year hiatus. This international showjumping event, approved by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), will take place at Surge Stable in Bengaluru from October 11-13. The event aims to provide competitive opportunities for Indian youth riders.
Event Details
The competition will feature participants from 11 countries, including India, with a format of borrowed horses and an age limit of 16-21 years for riders. The maximum jump level is set at 115 cm. India will be represented by two riders, E Suryaa Aaditya and Avik Bhatia, who excelled in the selection trials held at Surge Stable.
Participants and Achievements
Suryaa Aaditya and Avik Bhatia have both achieved significant success in previous competitions. Suryaa won silver medals in Dressage and Jumping at the JNEC in 2022 and a silver at the Grade III NEC event. Avik was named the best junior rider in 2023 and the best young rider at the Delhi Horse Show, with medals in junior and senior Nationals.
EFI Secretary General Col Jaiveer Singh expressed pride in hosting this prestigious event, highlighting the opportunity it provides for Indian riders to compete at an international level in familiar conditions. The event also positions India as a promising destination for global equestrian events.
International Participation
Riders from Kuwait, Malaysia, Pakistan, Iran, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, and Uzbekistan will also participate, showcasing the event’s international appeal.
